How do you know which cartridge fits my shower if I do not have the manual?
We measure the total length, diameter, and count the splines on the drive stem. Splines are the tiny ridges on the tip of the shaft, like teeth on a gear.
Why does a shower get stuck on one temperature?
Hard water minerals coat the internal wax element. When coated in chalky scale, the element can no longer slide back and forth to mix hot and cold streams.
Can all concealed shower valves be repaired this way?
Almost all standard branded mixer valves have replaceable cartridges, provided the brass casting inside the wall is not cracked.
